WolseleyUK createsAboveGround,
CivilsandUtilitiesSpecialistBusinesses
WolseleyUKhasannounced that it is creating two
business areas –one specialising inAboveGround
Drainage and theother, inBelowGroundDrainage
for theCivils andUtilitiesmarkets.
The changes are aimed at providingbetter alignment
to different customergroups and result from a strategic
review of theDrainCenter and Burdens brands following
theOFT clearance of the purchase ofBurdens branches
byWolseleyUKon January 30, 2013.
The new Burdens brandwill focus onCivils andUtili-
ties.As a result,21DrainCenter branches (including five
MCA branches),whose business primarily reflects these
markets,will be rebranded asBurdens, joining forceswith
the existing16-branch Burdens estate. Thismore than
doublesBurdens nationalpresence to 37branches. The
rebrandingwill be phasedover the comingmonths.
TheDrainCenter brandwill focus on the core specialism
ofAboveGroundDrainage for the RMI, residential and
commercialmarketplace, and 55DrainCenter branches,
whose operations primarily reflects this area,willmake up
this business. Tomaximise its growth potential through
access to a largerbranch estate, itwillbemanaged as
part ofWolseleyUK’swider Plumb/Parts/WilliamWilson
& BCG business group.
However, aspartof the changes,WolseleyUKwill also
be creating 11 newDrain andBurdens implants at exist-
ing Burdens andDrainCenter branchesover the coming
months to ensure continuityof service for customerswho
have anAboveGround andCivils andUtilitiesDrainage

What is LoyalTClub?
LoyalTClub is an exclusiveDrainCenter loyalty scheme aimed at rewarding and communicating
regularlywithour loyal customers. Itnowhasover4500 registeredmembers since it launched in
February2012,but took a littlebreakduring thebusiness restructuring changes.
Basedonbranch& customer research carriedout,we’vedeveloped anew, simpler schemewith
no spend targets andwhere all registered customers can earn1%on all their spend. Simple!
Theonly criteria to earn their vouchers at the endof the campaign (and it’s amakeorbreakone!), is that if theyhave a
credit account, theyMUSTpay all theirWolseleyUK invoicesdue in the campaignperiodon time and in fullor risk losing
their reward. If theyhave a cash account, thispartof the campaignobviouslydoesn’t affect them.
Whatare thekeymessages?
