A busy few weeks…

In October onemedia hosted our annual Workspace & Audio-Visual events, with the first event at the Stirling Court Hotel followed by our London event at the iconic Samsung KX two weeks later.  Both shows had taken a huge amount of resource and planning, and we were determined to build on the success of last year’s inaugural Workspace London event.

onemedia Workspace was planned to coincide with the launch of the highly anticipated new ONELAN CMS User Interface from Uniguest, giving us the perfect opportunity to demonstrate the fantastic new UI to our systems integration partners and end users and to talk about the exciting new features planned in the road map.

Planet eStream, a new addition to the Uniguest family and to the onemedia portfolio was also being exhibited, and we were excited to be able to showcase this market leading Unified Video platform.

In addition to the vendors that were exhibiting last year we were delighted to be able to launch AlphaVictor, a new platform in our portfolio designed to deliver an improved experience within meeting & teaching spaces. Chris and Campbell from Uncoded were both absolutely inundated at both events, with queues of visitors waiting to see a demonstration of the platform.

We were also joined at the KX by VergeSense, another new technology in onemedia’s portfolio of workspace solutions, whose occupancy intelligence solution delivers reduced cost and improved experience to their customers.

Wolf Vision and Polar Audio both also made their Workspace “debuts” this year and although onemedia does not have a commercial arrangement with either company we felt that they were a perfect fit, and both added genuine value for our customers attending.

Stirling Court provides the perfect location

On Wednesday 4th of October, the onemedia team flew up to Glasgow, before collecting a minibus for the last leg of the journey up to Stirling.  I was driving the minibus again this year, so was happy to arrive at the Stirling Court Hotel, a stunning venue on the University Campus, after a slow but uneventful drive!

We were helped with the logistics by Greg again (thank you, Dad!) from Visual Displays who kindly transported all our demo kit to Stirling from Visual Display’s offices in Bedford.

The setup was completed in good time, helped by the accommodating staff at the venue granting us access to the space earlier than arranged again. We then had an enjoyable evening catching up with our vendors and industry partners over dinner, before an early night for most of the team!

The event opened at 10am and the exhibition space was absolutely buzzing an hour later, with our customers taking the opportunity to learn about the new developments from all the vendors in attendance.

All our exhibitors were busy throughout the event and the onemedia demonstration stations were also well used all day.  The touch applications & wayfinding solutions that have been developed in-house and productised in recent years by onemedia created several live opportunities on existing ONELAN & Tripleplay digital signage networks.

A fantastic turn out!

We were absolutely delighted with the turn out from our customers, who had braved the wind and rain to join us in Stirling.  It was fantastic to see so many familiar and new faces and we were overwhelmed by the support from our reseller partners who had taken time out of their busy schedules to visit the event.

Stirling wouldn’t have been the same this year without Crofton being there, and although we had to prize him away from the golf course, we were delighted to have him there (until he mentioned the 5-week holiday he has planned in the New Year!)

We are very fortunate at onemedia to have the opportunity to build on the platform that Crofton had established with his annual “AV Open Day” in Stirling, and we are looking forward to continuing this long-standing tradition in the Scottish AV calendar.

After the drive back to Glasgow we had the opportunity to sit down as a team for dinner at the airport and reflect on a successful event, and to start making plans on how we can make improvements in 2024.

Back at the KX…

Less than two weeks after our trip to Scotland for the Stirling show, we were back at the Samsung KX for onemedia Workspace 2023.  The KX is an incredible space to host an event, but the one “trade-off” is that we are unable to access the venue the day before for setup.

The onemedia team assembled on Monday evening in Kings Cross, joined by some of our vendors and customers who had travelled from far and wide to join us.

Although last year’s Workspace was a huge success and an event that we were very proud of, the one notable change that we made this year was to host our social the day before our event and not on the same day, as we were all asleep in our main courses after an exhilarating and exhausting show last year! The Monday evening was the perfect warm up for the following day, with great company and lots of laughter – but a relatively early finish, ahead of a 5am start the next morning.

We arrived at the KX on Tuesday morning before 6:30am and were relieved that the delivery of 11 Samsung Flip screens was on schedule, which was going to be pivotal to the success of the event.   After a monumental team effort, we were set up and ready to go comfortably before the doors opened at 10am.

Our Danish partners and great friends from Sign In Workspace (formally Pronestor) managed the check in process with supreme efficiency, using their Sign In Enterprise platform.  When our guests arrived, they could simply scan the QR code on their boarding pass that was emailed prior to the event, with their badge being printed out.

Our vision when planning Workspace was that the event should reflect the technology from our vendors that was on display, and that our guests should be able to continue their working day from the KX.  It was rewarding to see this in action during the day, with many of our guests making use of the hot desks that were available to join video calls or simply take the chance to catch up on their emails.

New Onelan UI & eStream demos take over the bus

This year we used the Samsung 5G Bus for demonstrations of the new ONELAN User Interface and Planet eStream, which was the ideal setting for a detailed overview of both platforms from the Product Management Team from Uniguest.  It was great to hear so many positive reviews of the new ONELAN UI, and a multiple new opportunities for eStream’s unified video & lecture capture platform.

The onemedia demonstration stations were inundated all day, where again we saw a genuine desire for dynamic and engaging content for both existing and new screen networks. The onemedia wayfinding solution, showing live resource availability, was also in demand with corporate & higher education customers.

The event ended with a drinks reception at the KX, the perfect way to conclude, allowing us the opportunity to discuss the day with our customers and industry partners.

Thank you

We are very grateful to receive such fantastic support from our partners, resellers and customers that help us to make these events successful. After a little time to recover, we will back at the drawing board planning for 2024!
